Removing Cat Urine Stains & Cat Odor

How To Remove Cat Urine

Cat urine seeps through the carpet into
padding and down to the floor.

1. Blot up as much cat urine as possible. Use a soft, clean white towel or napkin. Do not rub, press down.

2.  Rinse the area thoroughly with clean, cool water, then blot the water and remove.

At this point there are several methods;

1. Baking soda - sprinkle over the stain, rub in and let dry. Vacuum the dry granules that are left.

2. Peroxide - use a spray product that consists of 3% hydrogen peroxide the rest water, soak the site. After waiting 5 min blot the area.

If you choose to rent equipment to clean your carpets, use plain water, do not use chemicals on the cat urine area.

How To Remove Cat Odor

Cat urine smell is very difficult to remove. It is comprised of 3 components; Urea-the sticky stuff, Urochrome-the pigment, color, Uric Acid-the odor

Uric Acid is composed of crystals and salts, when it is dry there is relatively little color, but once the crystals and salt dampen..the odors return.

Enzymes neutralize the odor, these enzymes can be found in products at pet supply stores.

Baking soda, white vinegar are 2 products that you can apply to the surface.
